BALLARAT Regional Multicultural Council will host a series on industry networking nights to connect residents from migrant and refugee backgrounds with employers and experts.<\/p>\n
Strategic engagement coordinator Annie Dunn said the first event will focus on the areas of aged care and hospitality and will be held at Barkly Square\u2019s Ballarat Welcome Centre this Thursday, 19 August from 5pm to 7pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe goal is to create meaningful opportunities for employers and jobseekers to engage with each other,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about both parties understanding learning so we can have better employment outcomes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe industries we\u2019ve chosen to look at are in demand, or difficult for our cohorts to get into.\u201d<\/p>\n
An aged care professional from Australian Unity will be available, as well as Belinda Eden from Troop Events who will discuss opportunities for people interested in getting into hospitality.<\/p>\n
A nurse working in aged care with a migrant background will also be accessible to attendees.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to see a range of people come along, whether they\u2019re curious about the industries, are actively pursuing education or employment in those areas, are qualified but just starting out in their career or are exploring options,\u201d Ms Dunn said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe networking night will give people some practical tips.\u201d<\/p>\n
