WHILE the Cats were smashed by Port Adelaide in last Friday night\u2019s qualifying final, continuing their recent poor record in the first week of finals, one pundit is saying it\u2019s the \u201ccomplaining\u201d about rule changes which ultimately could lead to their downfall.<\/p>\n
Kane Cornes said while he admired what the Cats have been able to do in recent seasons, their complaints about game length and rule changes have been hard to ignore.<\/p>\n
He said they might be left in a \u201cbit of a mess\u201d if their lucrative trade for gun forward Jeremy Cameron didn\u2019t see them achieve premiership success.<\/p>\n
\u201cI admire them so much because every year you think they\u2019re going to drop off and then they\u2019re around the mark,\u201d Conres said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe language coming out Geelong this year has been concerning. From the start of the year they\u2019ve said they don\u2019t want the games extended, we don\u2019t want the interchange slashed and we don\u2019t not want to have the pre-finals bye.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all been suited to an older side. All these changes, the length of the game going up, they were upset about the season being extended and the pre-finals bye being scrapped.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just didn\u2019t suit them and there\u2019s been a lot of complaining and questions from them, they make some good points in the end, but you could tell there\u2019s some real concern about the age of this group.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Jeremy Cameron [trade] was the last throw of the stumps and if it doesn\u2019t come off, they\u2019re left with a bit of a mess.\u201d<\/p>\n
