WITH nearly thirty young people in their training band, and approximately fifty members in total, the City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band is growing.<\/p>\n
While heading out to festive gigs across the city last December, secretary Chris Ducardus said the band realised three cars were needed to transport band equipment like percussion instruments, music stands and chairs each time.<\/p>\n
This wasn\u2019t sustainable, but they knew a trailer would be.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started researching and looking for our own trailer, and approached the Community Bank Buninyong who authorised a grant for $5400,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe now have a trailer, and have spent some additional money to get waterproof storage on the front for quick and easy access to gear.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very grateful to the Community Bank and are planning to put on a free concert at Buninyong when it\u2019s safe to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
Regardless of lockdowns, Mr Ducardus said the band is going well, with junior and senior players having the opportunity to perform on The George Hotel balcony throughout the Ballarat heritage and winter festivals.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe trailer was really handy. We had all our extra gear brought down, and everything that we needed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
