{"id":78135,"date":"2021-09-11T04:56:07","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T18:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=78135"},"modified":"2021-09-10T14:29:55","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T04:29:55","slug":"bygone-arts-and-political-scenes-captured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/bygone-arts-and-political-scenes-captured\/","title":{"rendered":"Bygone arts and political scenes captured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHILE the start date of this year\u2019s Ballarat International Foto Biennale remains on tenterhooks, several outdoor exhibitions have been made ready to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>This includes <em>Time and Place<\/em> by Rhonda Senbergs, which can be found in Police Lane, outside the Art Gallery of Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we&#8217;ve done is gotten the outdoor exhibitions ready so that the Ballarat community can enjoy them if it\u2019s within five kilometres from their homes,\u201d Biennale artistic director Fiona Sweet said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of those exhibitions are getting really strong interest, and it&#8217;s great to see people walking around looking at the outdoor element.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;ve developed a little Google Map that\u2019s on our website now, so they can find out where all the exhibitions are, which is great.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_79292\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-79292\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-79292\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/09\/George-Baldessin-and-Michael-Leunig-300x205.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-79292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Printmaker and sculptor George Baldessin with cartoonist, philosopher and poet Michael Leunig.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Ms Sweet, <em>Time and Place<\/em> will be of even extra interest when the festival proper is eventually launched, thanks to its parallel themes to the much-anticipated Linda McCartney show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason we put Rhonda Senbergs in that particular laneway was to, in a way, have that discussion with the Linda McCartney exhibition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRhonda was a self-taught photographer.
