IT\u2019S out with the old and in with the new at the Garibaldi Community Park playground, as the Golden Plains Shire continues its work upgrading spaces for children of all ages.<\/p>\n
The work included installing a new slide, bird nest combo swing, shade, play elements, seating and updating the soft fall material.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Garibaldi community can now enjoy the improved playground at the Garibaldi Community Park, with a new swing set, natural play elements and new shade shelter so children can continue enjoying the play space safely throughout the summer months,\u201d mayor Cr Helena Kirby said.<\/p>\n
The upgrade is the latest in the Shire, after just over $240,000 was granted by the Federal Government\u2019s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure, $84,000 of which was spent in Garibaldi.<\/p>\n
Cr Kirby said the money has also been used to complete work in Rokewood, Dereel and Haddon.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil set an ambitious goal to deliver upgrades to five of the Shire\u2019s playgrounds this year, and I\u2019m thrilled we\u2019ve now completed works at the playgrounds in Rokewood, Dereel, Haddon and Garibaldi, with Enfield to be completed by the end of 2021,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Works at Harrison Reserve at Enfield are expected to be completed before Christmas, with works on a $250,000 playground delayed after the old equipment was removed in September.<\/p>\n
Money has also been put aside for work at the Linton Recreation Reserve which is scheduled to begin early next year.<\/p>\n
