IT\u2019S time again to nominate deserving residents of the Golden Plains Shire for the municipality\u2019s Community Awards.<\/p>\n
Up for grabs this year are the citizen, senior citizen, and young citizen of the year titles, recognising individuals making a positive contribution to their area.<\/p>\n
A community impact award will also be open to an event, project, group or team making a difference.<\/p>\n
Work in community service, arts and culture, environment, business, economic development and sport will all be recognised in the initiative, which mayor Cr Helena Kirby said was a particularly important one for the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery year the Golden Plains Shire Community Awards are a highlight on the council calendar as we take the opportunity to celebrate the valuable contributions so many local people make,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 has been another challenging year for us all but the spirit of the Golden Plains Shire community has again shone through.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve seen so many incredible acts of service from individuals and groups across the Shire and council is pleased to have an opportunity to recognise these exceptional community members.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nominations are open until 5pm on Thursday, 18 November and can be made online or via mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil encourages all residents to reflect on those who have contributed so much to Golden Plains Shire in 2021 and submit a nomination to honour and thank them for their positive impact on our community,\u201d Cr Kirby said.<\/p>\n
