{"id":78809,"date":"2021-10-22T04:58:31","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T17:58:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=78809"},"modified":"2021-10-20T20:14:40","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T09:14:40","slug":"we-will-rock-you-lyric-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/we-will-rock-you-lyric-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The show will go on&#8230; and rock you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE full season of Ballarat Lyric Theatre\u2019s production of <em>We Will Rock You<\/em> will be staged next year, following the show\u2019s closure in July due to a snap COVID-19 lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>The cast and crew will bump back into Her Majesty\u2019s Theatre in summer, staging the Queen musical from Friday, 18 February to Saturday, 5 March.<\/p>\n<p>Lyric president Michael Whitehead said five more shows have been added to accommodate the production\u2019s popularity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQueen is so well known, and <em>We Will Rock You<\/em> is so famous around the world, so we were lucky to get it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe box office has only handed back 300 tickets out of 6000, and a lot of those were Melbourne people.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78811\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78811\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-78811\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2021\/10\/A02I4281-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78811\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>We Will Rock You<\/em> played one show in July before shutting down. Photo: FILE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re currently sold at 75 per cent, but we\u2019re very encouraged that we\u2019ll be fully open by February, and it will be an even bigger show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Director Stephen Armati said the cast, creative and technical teams remain the same, bar one performer, and rehearsals from December will be a refresher for all on-stage and backstage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll do a four-week sprint to rebuild the show very quickly over January, and we can\u2019t thank Her Maj and the City of Ballarat enough for helping us get there. The show must go on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of a cast and crew of 140, to only lose one person is great, so we\u2019re in good shape. Come along and let us rock you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone deserves a good night out and we can offer that. People love Queen, the principal cast are phenomenal, and it\u2019s a fantastic, funny show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her Majesty\u2019s Theatre manager Daniel Henderson said the venue is ready from a COVID-safe perspective, and will \u201cdo everything we can\u201d to support Lyric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got a great working relationship with them as one of our important community theatre groups in town,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets bought for last July will be honoured.
