VICTORIA\u2019S Trainee of the Year award was recently presented to Federation TAFE Diploma of Nursing student Samantha Brown.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old has undertaken a practical placement at Ballarat Health Services, having completed her traineeship last year, and was honoured as part of the Victorian Training Awards, topping a pool of 44 finalists.<\/p>\n
Having previously working in conveyancing and hospitality, Ms Brown has always been curious about working in the health sector.<\/p>\n
Making the career change, she tried a certificate III of individual and ageing support before moving to the Diploma of Nursing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was not until the later years of my working life that the call of a career in nursing, which I had been drawn to all those years ago, came to fruition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe traineeship was a perfect fit, as I learn best with hands-on experience. The opportunity to work within the field whilst studying was a major drawcard.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy hope is that I encourage others who may be considering undertaking a traineeship, as it truly has been life-changing for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Federation TAFE CEO and pro vice-chancellor vocational education and training Liam Sloan said he and his colleagues were very excited to her Ms Brown\u2019s news.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a proud moment for Federation TAFE, and an even prouder moment for Samantha and her team of supporters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSamantha has made an outstanding contribution to our community and has a very bright future.\u201d<\/p>\n
