{"id":78928,"date":"2021-10-27T09:51:20","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T22:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=78928"},"modified":"2021-10-27T09:51:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T22:51:20","slug":"for-the-love-of-great-pizza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/living\/for-the-love-of-great-pizza\/","title":{"rendered":"For the love of great pizza!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Amalfi Pizza &amp; Pasta\u2019s second store is up and cooking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>POPULAR Delacombe Town Centre late night purveyor of freshly made Italian food, Amalfi Pizza &amp; Pasta, is celebrating the opening of its second local store.<\/p>\n<p>Set for Wendouree, the new location is offering the exact same delectable menu from 5pm to 3am, seven days a week.<\/p>\n<p>General manager Alessandro Capponi said the success of Amalfi\u2019s first shop in Ballarat, as well as its many others around Victoria, comes down to the authenticity and freshness of the menu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a really, really strong kitchen,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have a full commercial kitchen in each venue, so we\u2019re like a combination of a restaurant and a pizza shop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-80362\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/10\/02-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the Amalfi menu you\u2019ll find pizzas divided into Classic, Gourmet and Deluxe, a selection of calzones, all the fresh made pastas you can think of, five different types of parma, plus sides, salads and desserts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s Melbourne style pizza, and all of our pasta is freshly made,\u201d Mr Capponi explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cook the sauce especially on the spot. So it\u2019s basically Italian style food adapted to local tastes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With a second local venue now up and running, Mr Capponi said Amalfi Pizza &amp; Pasta\u2019s short time in Ballarat has proven to be a prosperous one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really love Ballarat,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen we opened the first store we had a really good feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love that community feel, that beautiful, regional authentic feeling, which has gotten a bit lost in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a great atmosphere. It&#8217;s busy, the people love our food and it&#8217;s gone really well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;ve got a whole bunch of kids working with us, most of them in their first job. We work directly with job employment agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-80363\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/10\/03-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they start they\u2019re a little bit scared. You know, you mould them slowly, they get some confidence and after a few months they\u2019re just so comfortable. It\u2019s really rewarding. It makes you smile.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the things Amalfi Pizza &amp; Pasta does differently to your average Ballarat food place is access and availability.<\/p>\n<p>When most other restaurants and fast food places have closed their doors, Amalfi is there ready to serve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething we also do differently to other shops is our trading hours seven days, 5pm to 3am,\u201d Mr Capponi said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy opening until 3am we look after the people who are sometimes forgotten about &#8211; nurses, police who\u2019ve just finished their late shift.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also get a lot of factory workers finishing off at midnight, 1am &#8211; they come to us, have a pizza and go home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll emergency workers &#8211; police, fire brigade, and hospital workers &#8211; we offer them a 20 per cent discount on every single order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really believe in working with the community and helping the community when we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amalfi Pizza &amp; Pasta&#8217;s new store is at 914 Howitt Street, Wendouree &#8211; 4343 1895, and the DTC location is at T13 Delacombe Town Centre, 315 Glenelg Highway &#8211; 4303 2222.<\/p>\n<p>Both stores are open 5pm to 3am, seven days a week.
