FOUR new ambassadors have been named to the City of Ballarat\u2019s Active Women and Girls Program for the next twelve months.<\/p>\n
All passionate about female participation in sport and recreation, Lucy Brennan, Emma Donald, Kellie Britt and Kate Weadon will work in four key areas to encourage and motivate local women and girls to not only enjoy movement, but be positive leaders in their active spaces.<\/p>\n
Ms Brennan, Ballarat Soccer Club\u2019s president, will focus on the area of participation, while Ms Donald, an athletics and Carngham-Linton Football Netball Club junior coach will work to the culture and environment pillar.<\/p>\n
As AFL Victoria football development manager and AAA Sports founder and coordinator, Ms Britt will respond to the infrastructure pillar, while the media action role has been given to Ms Weadon, a Lake Wendouree Football Netball Club volunteer, and secretary at Drummo Dragons Basketball Club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really interested in providing safe and inclusive spaces for young people, and women, to play sport,\u201d Ms Britt said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing so heavily involved in the inclusion and diversity space over the last three years, I\u2019ve noticed there\u2019s a real need for facilities to be upgraded to make sure sport is inclusive for everybody.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a great opportunity to bring that to light.\u201d<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat deputy-mayor Cr Amy Johnson said the four new ambassadors will be empowering and inspiring when it comes to helping community members prioritise their health and fitness.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese ambassadors will continue our mission to remove barriers that may be constraining women and girls\u2019 involvement in sport or physical activity, either as leaders or participants,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
