YOUNG women and girls from across the Shire are being encouraged to help take part in the creation of a new municipal Move Your Way program.<\/p>\n
Move Your Way is a State Government backed initiative aimed at facilitating the participation of girls and young women aged between 12 and 15 in more physical activity in \u201cnon-structured and non-competitive environments\u201d.<\/p>\n
In Golden Plains Shire the program is backed by just under $10,000 from the VicHealth Reimagining Health Grants and the local program is set to go live in 2022.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvidence shows that 92 per cent of Australian teens do not meet the physical activity guidelines of 60 minutes a day, and females are disproportionally represented in this data,\u201d said mayor Cr Helena Kirby.<\/p>\n
\u201cOften this comes from a lack of confidence and fear of judgement, however, Move Your Way aims to remove these barriers, creating a safe and inclusive space for all girls to participate.<\/p>\n
