{"id":79406,"date":"2021-11-27T09:42:50","date_gmt":"2021-11-26T22:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=79406"},"modified":"2021-11-27T09:46:07","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T22:46:07","slug":"hands-on-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/living\/hands-on-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Hands-on learning!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Gordon&#8217;s remedial massage students benefit from practical work placement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FOR many years Torquay Chiropractic and Sports Clinic have taken on work placements for The Gordon&#8217;s remedial massage students.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits of seeing a busy clinic first-hand and gaining feedback for the practitioners are valuable in their learning journey.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon students have had practical work placement with Dr Peter Smith and his team in the second half of their year-long diploma at The Gordon.<\/p>\n<p>They have completed hours of practical sessions in the simulated clinic at The Gordon and have a sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology before they attend work placement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love my course,\u201d said student Sienna Marriot Webb. \u201cWe are learning so much, but being able to put what we have learnt into practice here with Pete and his team has really cemented what we are learning in class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith so much of the course dedicated to the hands-on, practical application of our learning, I am confident my massage skills and ability to respond to a client&#8217;s issues continue to grow as my course draws to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_80933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80933\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-80933\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/11\/Sienna-Marriott-Webb-TAFE-STUDENT-and-Pete-Smith-owner--300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-80933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TAFE student Sienna Marriot Webb and Torquay Chiropractic and Sports Clinic\u2019s Dr Peter Smith.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Making solid local connections has been really beneficial for students, especially during COVID when students could not attend classes onsite at TAFE.<\/p>\n<p>It was great to see local practices like Jan Juc Chiropractic were there to help support the students\u2019 learning needs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is nothing better than being able to support the local TAFE,\u201d said Dr Smith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know how important it is for The Gordon&#8217;s diploma of remedial therapy students to get as much hands-on experience as they can.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy working with us in a multi-modality clinic, they gain the complete experience of working in a busy clinic with different clients presenting with a range of issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome students for observation who are well supervised by experienced remedial therapists and practitioners.
