{"id":79538,"date":"2021-12-02T04:45:14","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T17:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=79538"},"modified":"2021-12-02T09:01:45","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T22:01:45","slug":"clunes-bowlers-lead-the-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/sport\/clunes-bowlers-lead-the-way\/","title":{"rendered":"Clunes bowlers lead the way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CLUNES Bowling Club is enjoying a great start to the Ballarat-Highlands Bowls Region Saturday Pennant season, taking the lead in all three divisions in which it competes and winning all games so far.<\/p>\n<p>The club\u2019s top side is in Division 2, and bowlers had their third win away to Invermay last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In a comprehensive victory the visitors were three rinks up, with Geoff Annear finishing all square with Geoffrey Fraser on 24 shots.<\/p>\n<p>Clunes\u2019 rink of David Templeton had a standout performance scoring a 21-shot lead over Invermay\u2019s Peter Shillington.<\/p>\n<p>The Division 2 leader board is headed by three non-metro teams in Clunes, Bungaree and Daylesford.<\/p>\n<p>Both Clunes and Bungaree have three wins and 87 points each, but former are on a higher percentage of 176.8. Daylesford holds third place with two wins and 78 points.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_79540\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-79540\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-79540\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2021\/12\/1W5A2526-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-79540\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clunes\u2019 Paul Lithgow sends one down.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Back in Clunes the club hosted their Division 6 match against Victoria with the home team having a comfortable 16-shot win.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides landed two rinks each but Josh Polson winning margin of 13 secured honours for the home team.<\/p>\n<p>The victory secured the lead on the Division 6 ladder for Clunes, ahead of Central Wendouree with both sides on three wins and with 84 and 82 points respectively.
