THE next community event at Turtle Bend Reserve will surely get Teesdale into the spirit of Christmas.<\/p>\n
The Teesdale Twilight Market and Carols will have the town feeling festive from 5pm to 9pm on Wednesday, 22 December.<\/p>\n
Coordinated by the Teesdale Community Events committee, the evening will offer food trucks, local produce and craft stalls from the Shire, and live performances from children\u2019s entertainers The Mik Maks, and opera singer Peter Harbinson.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter a two-year break, our aim is to bring community together,\u201d said committee secretary Mayan Rowling.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s child and family friendly. They can bring a picnic or eat from one of the many food stalls, and do some last-minute Christmas shopping, because we happen to have lots of lovely gift stalls of handmade and homemade items.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the schools will be finished. Parents can let their hair down, come and have some fun with the kids, enjoy the music, dance and sing, and then go and enjoy Christmas together.\u201d<\/p>\n
A very important bearded visitor in red will be making a special appearance, with lollies on offer. He will be arriving by fire truck transport, with assistance from Lyn Galtry and the Teesdale CFA.<\/p>\n
Five or six food vans, including baked potatoes and churros vendors, will offer dinner and dessert options to ensure attendees can get back to their market shopping, or carol grooving, without having to stand in a long queue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love to support local. Our stallholders haven\u2019t been able to do much over the last two years, and food people especially have taken quite a hit,\u201d Ms Rowling said.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire is financially supporting the Twilight Market and Carols, which is led by Ms Rowling and fellow committee member Sophie Graham.<\/p>\n
