NATIONAL Rugby League action is scheduled to touch down in Mars for the first time ever next year, as two of the comp\u2019s biggest teams line up for a pre-season game.<\/p>\n
Set for Sunday, 27 February, the Melbourne Storm will head to town and bring the Newcastle Knights with them for the practice match.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last two years have obviously been challenging for all Victorians, and we were particularly keen to give as many people as possible in regional Victoria the chance to see the team up close and personal,\u201d said Storm CEO Justin Rodski.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a lot of members and fans in regional Victoria who have stuck by the Club over the last two years and I know the team will want to give something back in return of their support.\u201d<\/p>\n
The game is supported by the Regional Events Fund and a statement released by the State Government said the event could have significant flow on effects.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe event will attract up to 10,000 spectators with many loyal Storm fans expected to make the trip to Bendigo, injecting a welcome boost to hotels, restaurants, bars and other attractions,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
