TAKING into account the developing COVID-19 situation, the Golden Plains Shire has altered the schedule for the rest of this month\u2019s social school holiday activities for young people aged 12 to 18.<\/p>\n
The program will include more outdoor events and play, and none that require bus travel into cities.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said the spaces are \u201csafe and inclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe updated schedule allows council to provide more activities in more locations within our Shire, making it even easier for young people across the Shire to connect socially while staying COVID safe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil is committed to providing opportunities for young people to access social connection and develop friendships with fun and accessible activities and programs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese school holiday activities are designed to appeal to the interests of youth across the Shire and provide an opportunity for young people to have some fun, catch up with friends and meet new people.\u201d<\/p>\n
A session about how to podcast will be held virtually on Monday, 24 January.<\/p>\n
Skate and scoot clinics at the Smythesdale Skate Park and the Bannockburn Skate Park will be run on Tuesday, 25 and Thursday, 27 January respectively.<\/p>\n
Today, Thursday 20 January, Rokewood Recreation Reserve and Dereel Skate Park will have pop-up outdoor events with a barbecue, games, music, and prizes, at 11am to 12.30pm, and 1.30pm to 3pm respectively.<\/p>\n
The same events will run on Friday, 28 January at Teesdale\u2019s Turtle Bend from 11am to 12.30pm, and at Yerram Yaluk Bun Park at Inverleigh from 1.30 to 3pm.<\/p>\n
