Ms Furlong has family in Western Australia who watch the road races on SBS and are \u201cproud\u201d to see spectacular vision of Buninyong – the village where they grew up – on national television.<\/p>\n
But not all regular spectators were locals. One group of friends from Sydney and greater Melbourne, including John Collins and Robyn Rosendale, have enjoyed attending the RoadNats annually for 11 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just love the cycling. We come as a group and take a house in Ballarat each year,\u201d Mr Collins said.<\/p>\n
Ms Rosendale said although Buninyong is growing, it\u2019s always a \u201cquaint\u201d place for them to come to, and has a warm, welcoming feel.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have \u2018our tree\u2019 that we always sit under, really enjoy the social side of it, and there\u2019s lots of places to eat,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cycling gets us out to look at areas we normally wouldn\u2019t look at, and it\u2019s a great family atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Located by the start-finish line, bike shop Dynamite Cycles reported seeing a lot of their RoadNats regular customers.<\/p>\n
