GOLDEN Plains Shire\u2019s elected representative will be spreading out across the municipality next weekend to catch up with ratepayers over a hot beverage.<\/p>\n
Known as coffee with your councillors, the initiative is set to return on Saturday, 19 February, as councillors tour a variety of cafes and general stores across the Shire.<\/p>\n
Locals are encouraged to join with the polies in their visits, and will be able to voice their thoughts and opinions on everything from rates, roads and rubbish, through next financial year\u2019s budget and everything in between.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said councillors are looking forward to the upcoming events and urged ratepayers to come along and engage with them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe coffee with your councillors sessions are a nice way to meet people in their hometown and listen to the ideas and concerns of residents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year, councillors created the coffee events and visited 18 towns. We met so many great residents and those conversations were very valuable in the development of the council plan 2021-2025.<\/p>\n
Breaking out into groups of two and three, on Saturday, 19 February between 9am and 10.30am councillors will be at the Haddon General Store, Cape Clear General Store, and the Lethbridge General Store.<\/p>\n
From 11am to 12.30pm they\u2019ll visit the Ross Creek General Store, Berringa Op Shop, and the Teesdale General Store.<\/p>\n
In the final session, between 1.30pm and 3pm conillors will be at the Scarsdale General Store, the Back Creek Caf\u00e9 at Meredith and the Sonny Caf\u00e9 at Inverleigh.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, in our second year of the council term, councillors have a new initiative to undertake early engagement on the council budget 2022\/23 and, to compliment the community survey, we will visit 10 townships in February,\u201d Cr Gamble said<\/p>\n
