AFL Goldfields is assisting young families to make the move from Auskick into under-nine junior football.<\/p>\n
Their Footy for Fun program will run at the City Oval this Friday evening, 18 February, from 5pm to 6.30pm, inviting girls and boys who have finished Auskick in the last two years to take part.<\/p>\n
AFL Goldfields participation coordinator Kellie Britt said those interested in joining a local club to play in the Ballarat Football League this year will experience a taster session for the under-nine program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe kids will be put into teams to play a match against each other and get some more game experience. This is something they don\u2019t get a lot of in Auskick, which is skill-based,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother team will be off to the side enjoying some fun footy-based games and activities with the Western Bulldogs staff.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the activities, AFL Goldfields staff will be available to speak with parents about what moving into a junior football club looks like.<\/p>\n
They will receive a pack of information about all the clubs in the region and who they can contact to join them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is ideal for families who have never had a lot of footy experience before but are keen to get involved and might need some support to find the right information,\u201d Ms Britt said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf families don\u2019t have a connection to a club already it can be daunting and finding information can be hard. We\u2019re offering families an opportunity to come and try it.\u201d<\/p>\n
