EUREKA Cycling raced under blue skies on the Windmill circuit on Sunday, 13 February.<\/p>\n
Twenty-nine riders were blow about by a strong northerly wind that saw the bunches ripped apart.<\/p>\n
Tim Canny was the lone scratch rider, he caught the second scratch group at the halfway mark of the race and with the extra help started reeling the out-markers in.<\/p>\n
Stu Brien provided able support for Canny and they rode through the entire field to claim the lead with six kilometres remaining.<\/p>\n
Peter Gunston, who was returning for his first Eureka handicap race since breaking his neck 51 weeks ago, was strong enough to latch onto the duo.<\/p>\n
Canny launched his final attack with four kilometres remaining and proved too strong in the tailwind aided finish.<\/p>\n
The club takes a short break next week, with many members participating in the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute\u2019s Ballarat Cycle Classic.<\/p>\n
