A UNIQUE, percussive, fun, and musical workout is on its way to Rokewood and Inverleigh.<\/p>\n
Sports Central is bringing free 45-minute cardio drumming sessions to Rokewood and Inverleigh in March and April, led by fitness instructor Narelle Tolliday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all about bringing the community together for physical wellbeing, social interaction, good mental health, and a great time, and to offer somewhere close and convenient,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCardio drumming is a cardio fitness workout for all abilities, no matter how high or low their fitness level is. It\u2019s to great music, and you can go as hard as you like throughout the whole-body workout.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a stress release to bang the ball with the sticks, and it works the entire body, your balance, coordination and brain.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs Tolliday was initially trained to facilitate cardio drumming – a popular fitness movement in the US – for people with disabilities six years ago, and she said it\u2019s a workout anyone can have a go at, even if they are seated.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s perfect for all abilities, all ages, men and women. If you want to jump you can, or if you can\u2019t it doesn\u2019t matter. Give it a go and laugh with a friend,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t realise they\u2019re working out when they\u2019re cardio drumming, and when you\u2019re doing squats to the music of Tina Turner, you can\u2019t go wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cardio drumming will run at the Dereel Community Centre on Saturdays from 19 March and 9 April from 9am to 9.45am, and at the Rokewood Community Hall on Thursdays from 17 March to 7 April at 7pm to 7.45pm.<\/p>\n
