THIS weekend\u2019s World International Royalty Australia Nationals pageant in Melbourne will see two Bannockburn history-makers on stage.<\/p>\n
Five-year-old Logan Savin and his dad Greg are the first father and son team to compete in the competition, and if they win, will not only represent Australia at the Internationals in the United Kingdom, but be awarded a trip to Disneyland Paris.<\/p>\n
A means to promote volunteering, being active in the community, and fundraising, the pageant encourages entrants to dream, believe in themselves, and achieve their goals.<\/p>\n
As competitors are interviewed, and model on stage, the process nurtures strong self-esteem, confidence, and good public speaking skills.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreviously there have not been any male role models in the pageants for children including Logan, so I decided I\u2019d have a go, and learn how to do the pageants, and teach him what he needs to do, so he\u2019s got somebody to follow,\u201d Mr Savin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a good opportunity for me to boost my confidence and get out in front of an audience. To be the first male role model, and the first father and son in these pageants in Australia, it\u2019s quite a privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n
As a member of the unique pageant community, Logan said he has made lots of friends, and \u201cloves going on the stage\u201d to present his model walk routines with turns and poses.<\/p>\n
But there\u2019s one thing in particular he\u2019s striving for.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want win the pageant,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Savins have supported the Geelong Food Relief Centre, Neighbourhood Watch Bannockburn, and Geelong Animal Welfare Society throughout the World International Royalty Australia Nationals pageant.<\/p>\n
Logan\u2019s mum and Mr Savin\u2019s wife Tara said the interest in pageantry is a \u201cfamily affair.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is something we enjoy doing together, encouraging everyone to be the best version of themselves. I create the boys\u2019 outfits myself,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMales in pageantry is a rarity in Australia, although we\u2019re hopeful in seeing it gathering momentum with Greg being a pioneer as the first father to step foot on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
