COMMUNITY members will take pride in public spaces and care for the natural environment as they participate in Clean Up Australia initiatives this month.<\/p>\n
On the official national Clean Up day, Sunday, 6 March, Alfredton Rotary Club will be sweeping the Rotary Centennial Park in Lucas, which is adjacent to the Mullawallah Wetlands.<\/p>\n
David Sanders is part of the Rotary District 9780 Environment and Sustainability Committee and one of the coordinators of the Club event kicking off at 10am, which is open to anyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is anticipated that we will clean along Remembrance Drive and down the Link Road. We have bags, vests, rubbish-grabbers, giveaways and some prizes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a great chance to get out in the fresh air and make a real difference to tidy up our town and help clean our streets and waterways.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaintaining pride in our city is not only a one day a year event, we can all do our bit all year round. Come along and be part of this… nice positive family outing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The City of Ballarat will collect and take away all the litter volunteers pick up at Centennial Park.<\/p>\n
Residents can take part in other registered Clean Up Australia Day events on Sunday, 6 March at Woowookarung Regional Park, Mullawallah Wetlands, Victoria Park, White Flat Oval, along the Yarrowee Trail in Golden Point, Redan and Magpie, at Palentino Place in Brown Hill, and The Chase playground and wetlands in Alfredton.<\/p>\n
Later in the week, Ballarat East community centre Barkly Square will have its own Clean Up event run by BGT.<\/p>\n
On Friday, 11 March between 3pm and 4pm, residents are encouraged head along to the former school on Barkly Street to clean up the surrounding gardens, enjoy some time being active outdoors, and meet other community members volunteering on the day.<\/p>\n
