BECAUSE of the town\u2019s distance to larger regional centres, individual garage sales in Linton don\u2019t typically draw a big crowd.<\/p>\n
But Jen Stuart said if you run several within a few blocks on the same day, they\u2019ll create an \u201cexciting atmosphere\u201d which attracts visitors from everywhere.<\/p>\n
As a result she\u2019s coordinating the Linton-Wide Garage Sale which is returning later in the month on Sunday, 27 March.<\/p>\n
The day will see homes across the town set up stalls of their second-hand goods, from furniture and old treasures, to plants and car parts.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople pick and choose where they want to go, drive from garage sale to garage sale, head down to the Men\u2019s Shed barbecue on Sussex Street to get a sausage, and the town buzzes,\u201d Ms Stuart said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sales attract hundreds of people, some who only briefly stay if they\u2019re looking for something in particular, and others who stay for a chat.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarage sale day is actually a nice catch-up time for neighbours who might not see each other often. It\u2019s always a vibrant day, and the coffee shops do really well out of it too.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Stuart will write up a list, and create a map, of all the garage sales and what they have on offer, which can be picked up at the Linton Takeaway from 8am onwards.<\/p>\n
