CHANGE-making women making positive contributions to the life of the city are currently being featured in an exhibition in Lucas.<\/p>\n
Installed at Coltman Plaza last Tuesday for International Women\u2019s Day, the Women of Ballarat<\/em> display is celebrating 10 community leaders and servicepeople by sharing their unique stories.<\/p>\n Known for her compassionate and kind leadership, Ballarat Hospice Care CEO Carita Clancy is highlighted in the project.<\/p>\n \u201cI am grateful for the gift that people give us in allowing us to care for them and work with them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThey keep giving until the last moment of their life and it\u2019s a privilege to be a part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Just some of her fellow nominees include founder of the local chapter of children\u2019s literacy initiative Story Dogs Jacqui MacMillan, and her dog Honey, sprinter Chloe Kinnersly, former City of Ballarat Young Citizen of the Year Chloe Waddell, and Integra\u2019s Victoria Rushton.<\/p>\n Coltman Plaza has led the project in support of a more gender equal world, and the IWD theme of \u2018break the bias.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAlthough women are now able to achieve careers in traditionally male occupations, such as firefighting, policing and engineering, they are all too often harassed, assaulted, and denied promotions, as one can frequently see in the news coverage of such trails,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" CHANGE-making women making positive contributions to the life of the city are currently being featured in an exhibition in Lucas.
