{"id":80984,"date":"2022-03-11T04:55:39","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T17:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=80984"},"modified":"2022-03-10T10:43:36","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T23:43:36","slug":"shire-southern-open-studios","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/shire-southern-open-studios\/","title":{"rendered":"Studio doors swing open in the south"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARTISTS will share their creative flair and workspaces when the Golden Plains Southern Open Studios welcome visitors this month.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by not-for-profit community group GP Arts Inc for Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 March, five member studios will be open throughout the south of the Shire.<\/p>\n<p>Illustrator Marita Reynolds will host textile artist Lyn Dickson, mixed media-worker Roslyn Bosnar, and author Wendy Spall at her Bannockburn space, while photography and acrylic art are the stars of the show at Murray and Ana White\u2019s in Teesdale.<\/p>\n<p>Work by at least five guest artists will be presented alongside bronze sculptures by Lucy McEachern at her Wingeel studio, while coloured pencil worker Jen Urquhart and mixed media creative Jillian Rough are opening their respective Stonehaven studios for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>With picturesque mountains and gardens surrounding it, Urquhart\u2019s brand-new, bright, modern art space has just been constructed, named Talamh Art Studio.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_80986\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80986\" style=\"width: 255px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-80986\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/03\/Ros-B-Silk-painting-2-255x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-80986\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Smooth as silk: Mixed media-worker Roslyn Bosnar will showcase her work in Bannockburn.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to welcome people in, because one of my whole aims has been to get coloured pencil work out there,\u201d she said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the last five years, I\u2019ve been developing my own style, which is a painterly look, depicting still life and some botanicals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody realises what coloured pencil can look like, so I hope people are amazed by the painterly look when they walk in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Painter-drawer Sarah Gabriel, watercolourist Robert J Williams, and painters Nick Dridan, Harley Manifold, and Kathryn Ryan will also be sharing their work at Lucy McEachern\u2019s studio and sculpture garden where there\u2019ll be an Austin\u2019s wine tasting and coffee van.<\/p>\n<p>Entry to the Golden Plains Southern Open Studios is free, and they\u2019re open from 10am to 4pm both days.
