{"id":81002,"date":"2022-03-12T10:12:11","date_gmt":"2022-03-11T23:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=81002"},"modified":"2022-03-12T10:12:29","modified_gmt":"2022-03-11T23:12:29","slug":"creatively-on-show-as-geelong-design-week-returns-for-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/living\/creatively-on-show-as-geelong-design-week-returns-for-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Creatively on show as Geelong Design Week returns for 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BUILDING on the success of last year\u2019s inaugural event, and in celebration of Geelong\u2019s status as Australia\u2019s only designated UNESCO City of Design, this year\u2019s Geelong Design Week is back!<\/p>\n<p>Running from 17 \u2013 27 March, with an official launch event on Thursday, 17 March, this year\u2019s Geelong Design Week is destined to delight.<\/p>\n<p>With 60 events running across the 10-day period, visitors have the opportunity to experience and engage in a full program of incredible themed events, via this internationally recognised celebration of design.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme is <em>taur<\/em> meaning \u2018belonging\u2019 in the local Wadawurrung language, the Traditional Owners of Djilang (Geelong).<\/p>\n<p>Indigenous artist Deanne Gilson\u2019s commissioned work, <em>Yalik Beek Murrup<\/em> (water, country, spirit), provides the strong visual narrative that underpins Geelong Design Week.<\/p>\n<p>The concept of contemporary design thinking creates a conversation about the way that we live on the planet, how we use design in our everyday lives, rather than being a static discussion about the design of \u2018things\u2019.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_82884\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-82884\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-82884\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/Clare-Bowditch-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-82884\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Singer, actress and storyteller Clare Bowditch will get the 10 days of events started.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This year\u2019s program will feature everything from architectural and garden walking tours to panel discussions about creative urban design, to dance and movement workshops, exhibitions, fashion, crafts, educational and VR experiences, to scientific displays and engaging talks.<\/p>\n<p>With all events organised under eight key themes, there really is something for everyone.\u00a0 Head to <a href=\"http:\/\/geelongdesignweek.com.au\"><strong>geelongdesignweek.com.au<\/strong><\/a> to explore the full program.<\/p>\n<p>Kicking off the week, singer, actress and storyteller Clare Bowditch will be gracing the stage of the refurbished The Palais in Moorabool Street, Geelong with an event titled <em>Big dreams, creative resilience and the stories we tell ourselves: an evening with Clare Bowditch.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Destined to be creative, reflective and delightful, there are limited tickets available for the event at a cost of $35 plus booking fee which includes refreshment on arrival.
