EUREKA Cycling staged criteriums in Victoria Park on Labour Day under blue skies.<\/p>\n
With perfect racing conditions 27 riders pinned on numbers as fast and tactical racing became the order of the day.<\/p>\n
Division 4 stayed intact until the bell lap when Renee Clapham accelerated away from her rivals to win by the length of the straight.<\/p>\n
Most of the Division 3 riders engaged in a highly tactical affair, leaving the race wide open for Jake Miocic to play the winning hand and storm to victory.<\/p>\n
Divison 2 was a more traditional fast paced race with the odd attack thrown in to liven the action up.<\/p>\n
Greg Ley and Steven Crowe tried to steal the race inside the last two laps, however the field caught them well before the home straight before Tony Mirabella launched a long-range sprint at the perfect time.<\/p>\n
Division 1 started fast and only eased off nearing the 30-minute mark, then becoming a tactical affair with multiple attacks.<\/p>\n
Tim Sinclair set off with one and a half laps remaining, however the sprint train was forming behind with Dayne Pearce at the helm.<\/p>\n
Daniel Bucknall had the box seat and sprinted too fast and strong – winning comfortably.<\/p>\n
A great morning of racing with maiden wins at Eureka for Renee, Miocic and Bucknall.<\/p>\n
Labour Day criterium results – Division 1 (45 minutes, plus two laps) – 1st – Daniel Bucknall, 2nd – Jason Hendry, 3rd – Matthew Bowman. Division 2 (40 minutes, plus two laps) – 1st – Tony Mirabella, 2nd – Darryn Reed, 3rd – Peter Canny. Division 3 (35 minutes, plus two laps) – 1st – Jake Miocic, 2nd – Michael Lewis, 3rd – Steven Linane. Division 4 (30 minutes, plus two laps) – 1st – Renee Clapham, 2nd – Geoff Edwards, 3rd – Jennifer Collier.<\/p>\n
