ALL the fun of the fair is coming to the Shire in April.<\/p>\n
With funding from the State, and a Federal Government disaster recovery grant, the Golden Plains Community Fairs will run during the Golden Plains Farmers Market at Bannockburn and the Smythesdale Country Market.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said fun-filled family events will include live music, market stalls, food, and games, and local emergency services\u2019 information stalls.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been terrific to see the return of events in Golden Plains over the last few months and the Golden Plains community fairs are a chance for our community to come together and enjoy the best of what the Shire has to offer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community fairs will be a great, fun day out, and a valuable opportunity to celebrate our local emergency services and have discussions about the important work that they do in our bushfire-prone communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cBushfire preparedness is essential to life in Golden Plains and it\u2019s great to be working with two popular local events to bring this message to the forefront.<\/p>\n
\u201cI encourage all Shire residents to attend these wonderful events and to stop by for a chat with emergency services as they enjoy the festivities.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the market stalls, Bannockburn will see a circus workshop, pedal karts, and live music from The Peter Chapman Duo and Jonathon Chandler, while Smythesdale will have a mini golf course, a visit from the easter bunny and a performance from children\u2019s entertainment group the Mik Maks.<\/p>\n
Bannockburn CFA will also be raising money for the Good Friday Appeal, running a dance-off and fire hose target practice.<\/p>\n
The Golden Plains community fairs will be held in Bannockburn on Saturday, 2 April from 10am to 3pm on the corner of High and Market streets, and in the Smythesdale historic precinct on Saturday, 16 April from 10am to 3pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
