SUNDAYS are a groovin\u2019 good time at Saint Peter and Paul’s Church in Buninyong.<\/p>\n
Community members who love to sing are invited to a monthly Groovin\u2019 on a Sunday Afternoon choir session, led by Geoffrey Williams.<\/p>\n
Attendees are split into four parts to sing a \u201csoulful\u201d repertoire in harmony, from Papa was a Rolling Stone<\/em>, to Marvin Gaye\u2019s What\u2019s Going On<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a part in every song that anyone can slot into,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n Unable to lead musical groups for the last two years, he\u2019s glad to be back in the same room as other singers.<\/p>\n \u201cA choir is a great social activity, and the members are so much fun. Getting everyone together and singing together is just love, and the church is a beautiful space.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had so many smiling faces this week. We\u2019re singing for joy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Leader of the Buninyong Community Choir George Williams took part in the first session last weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing surrounded by voices, listening to people learning, dancing and having fun, it\u2019s so beautiful,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe church space is so flexible, accessible, and comfortable, and you can spread out to really sound like a choir.\u201d<\/p>\n Robyn Lawrence travelled from Daylesford to sing with the group, having been a member of one of Geoffrey\u2019s choirs for five years before the pandemic.<\/p>\n \u201cI really missed singing over the last two years,\u201d she said. \u201cToday I got to sing songs I already knew, and the four-part harmonies were gorgeous. They really hit you in the chest when you get them right.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so exciting to get back together, make music and have fun, which is what it\u2019s all about.
