FEDERATION University\u2019s Mount Helen campus is now the home of Australia\u2019s first wind turbine training tower.<\/p>\n
Part of stage one of the Asia Pacific Renewable Energy Training Centre, the tower is 23 metres tall, and will allow FedTAFE to offer Global Wind Organisation training later in the year.<\/p>\n
The project was funded with $1.8 million provided by energy companies Vestas, ACCIONA Energy, GPG, and Tilt Renewables, as well as a $50,000 from the State Government.<\/p>\n
Fed Uni\u2019s vice-chancellor and president Professor Duncan Bentley said the tower will see Ballarat at the centre of the state\u2019s major windfarm works.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe training tower will enable energy companies to train their workers locally in Ballarat, the gateway to Victoria\u2019s major windfarm projects in the state\u2019s west,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Fed Uni\u2019s latest addition comes along their exclusive deal with BZEE Network in Germany to provide globally recognised six-month-long courses for electrician and tech students including internships with turbine companies.<\/p>\n
Brett Wickham, managing director at ACCIONA Energy, said the tower will provide a great opportunity for people wanting to start a career in the industry.<\/p>\n
