GORDON Netball Club is looking to fill its junior netball teams with the return of their annual NetSetGo program.<\/p>\n
Sessions are scheduled to start at Gordon Recreation Reserve in late April, and will continue until Friday, 1 July, with the aim of getting young girls aged five to 10 interested in netball.<\/p>\n
Over 10 kids are registered, and senior netball delegate Rhonda Best said this year\u2019s program looks to have a wide range of participants.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur numbers were good last year but I think people were unsure about doing too many activities around that time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully we\u2019ll get a few more in so we can really get going before the season starts. It seems like it\u2019ll definitely be a bigger program this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each week will comprise a different focus on the fundamentals of netball, with attendees being grouped into ages five and six, seven and eight, and nine and 10.<\/p>\n
Best said the sessions maintain a participatory focus with the aim of getting kids interested in the sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur main goal is to get kids out there and to give it a go and experience netball in a relaxed, non-competitive environment to start with,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat can be quite daunting for some kids, turning up to a fully-fledged competition where they\u2019re expected to know the rules on everything from day one\u201d<\/p>\n
