PUT on your Sunday best for the Begonia City High Tea at St Patrick\u2019s Cathedral Hall next month.<\/p>\n
Alfredton Rotary Club is leading the afternoon, and organiser Jill Oliver said they\u2019re hoping the high tea might just be the largest Australia\u2019s ever seen.<\/p>\n
The event will kickstart a campaign to refurbish St John of God\u2019s Rotary House.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been around for almost 20 years as accommodation for relatives of patients from regional areas,\u201d Mrs Oliver said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is in pretty good shape, but the common areas need painting, and updated kitchens.\u201d<\/p>\n
To be held on Sunday, 1 May from 2pm, the Begonia City High Tea will have the Cathedral Hall looking fresh and floral.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have the iconic building decorated and looking rather lovely, with beautiful crisp starched white tablecloths and napery, and English bone China trios.<\/p>\n
\u201cAttendees will get a glass of bubbles or mineral water when they arrive, and then a sumptuous afternoon tea with savoury and sweet options,\u201d Mrs Oliver said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have tarts, cupcakes, slices, finger sandwiches, and of course, scones, jam, and cream.\u201d<\/p>\n
As part of their community service, students from Ballarat Grammar and Ballarat Clarendon College will be at the Hall to greet guests and serve them their tea and coffee.<\/p>\n
