{"id":81567,"date":"2022-04-14T04:58:22","date_gmt":"2022-04-13T17:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=81567"},"modified":"2022-04-14T12:53:35","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T01:53:35","slug":"dualling-promises-for-sporting-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/dualling-promises-for-sporting-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Dualling promises for sporting club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>YOU can be assured a Federal election is underway with both major parties at Bannockburn earlier this week pitching woo at the community with pledges for the Bannockburn Football Netball Club.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker, arrived at Victoria Park to announce $350,000 for upgrades to the club\u2019s female changerooms should Labor win the coming Federal election.<\/p>\n<p>Less than 24-hours later it was the Liberal\u2019s turn as Stephenie Asher promised a similar initiative but at nearly double the price tag at $690,000.<\/p>\n<p>Both election commitments would see the introduction of female-friendly changerooms, and Ms Coker said the upgrades were about greater involvement from local female players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me it\u2019s a priority that clubrooms be upgraded to cater for girls and women, to meet current standards and expectations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about strengthening local club infrastructure to increase female participation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBannockburn is a rapidly growing community, and the needs for sporting infrastructure have increased across the board,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_81570\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-81570\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81570\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/04\/IMG_9523-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-81570\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Netball operations manager Andrew Osborne and Liberal candidate Stephanie Asher. Photo: TIM BOTTAMS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ms Asher expressed a similar opinion, and said Liberal\u2019s funds will go a long way in facilitating the continued expansion of the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving improved female-friendly changerooms is going to be incredibly important for the growing sport and the growing community here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current facilities are very basic and failing to keep pace with the local community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis\u2019ll be a game-changer for the comfort of the players, and allow for the growth of the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With 11 junior teams and four senior teams aged from under 11s to under 17s, Bannockburn Football Netball Club is one of the largest sporting clubs in the Shire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>YOU can be assured a Federal election is underway with both major parties at Bannockburn earlier this week pitching woo at the community with pledges for the Bannockburn Football Netball Club.
