WHILE Aaron Naughton is no doubt a star key forward and Tim English is becoming an elite level ruckman, the Dogs\u2019 defence has struggled to nullify the opposition\u2019s key forwards.<\/p>\n

In the first four rounds, Melbourne\u2019s Ben Brown kicked three in the season-opener, Carlton\u2019s Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow combined for nine goals in round two and Richmond\u2019s Tom Lynch and Jack Riewoldt put six together in their 99-61 win on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Although Tim O\u2019Brien was brought over to the club to sure up their defensive stocks, Chad Cornes believes a lack of capable talls is the \u201cmassive issue\u201d holding the Dogs back in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re one and three for that reason [key position stocks],\u201d Cornes said on AFL.com.au\u2019s The Round So Far<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have a massive issue on their list, that is key position stocks.<\/p>\n

\u201cTim English is in the ruck, but there\u2019s nothing behind him at the moment, at times [Marcus] Bontempelli was rucking, what a disaster that is.<\/p>\n

\u201cTim O\u2019Brien comes back in, he didn\u2019t really have an influence, he\u2019s not that big defender, they don\u2019t have a big defender.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the other end of the ground, if it\u2019s not Naughton – who kicked 2.3 [against Richmond] but was inaccurate \u2013 [Jamarra] Ugle-Hagan was good last week but touched it five times this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, their midfield is great, but the reason they\u2019re one and three is because they\u2019re so low on key position players and it\u2019s an area they just did not address in the trade period.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs will hope to earn their second win of the season when they face the 1-3 Kangaroos on Good Friday at Marvel Stadium.<\/p>\n
