AFTER a two-year hiatus, Bannockburn Craft Group is up and running again with new members and a new location.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, the group met for the first time at the Bannockburn Tennis Club rooms, but founder Sheryl Hovey said that wasn\u2019t the only new development in store for the crafters.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been putting up leaflets for who knows how long when we first started the group, and we weren\u2019t getting much new people in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe decided to do it all on social media instead and got five new people at our latest meeting which was amazing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t believe it when people just kept walking through the door.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Hovey formed the group when she moved to Bannockburn in 2017, and wanted an outlet where she could meet new people.<\/p>\n
Previously their meetings were held at Bannockburn Cultural Centre, and with their latest gathering, their numbers raised from a consistent five to 11 participants.<\/p>\n
Ms Hovey said their meetings have always been about maintaining a \u201cnice intimacy\u201d and a social atmosphere.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople will usually do their own projects with knitting or sewing, but more importantly, people will show up to have a bit of a natter and a coffee,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose five had actually just moved to Bannockburn so they thought it\u2019d be a great way to meet new people, like I did all those years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bannockburn Craft Group meets from 7pm to 9pm on the first Wednesday of every month at Bannockburn Tennis Club rooms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
