Many of the joeys Ms Howard cares for have been rescued from their mother\u2019s pouch after she has been killed by a vehicle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey could be there for 24 hours dead with a little baby in their pouch. I transition the babies to the formulas, which are good, but it\u2019s very different for them, so it\u2019s a challenge,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
When asked why she volunteers her time, Ms Howard said she simply adores her little furry friends.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got to be a caring and loving person to be able to do it, but I love caring for them, and they\u2019re good company.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to say goodbye to them, it\u2019s heartbreaking, but you know you\u2019ve done your part to get them there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
