{"id":81792,"date":"2022-05-05T04:48:30","date_gmt":"2022-05-04T17:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=81792"},"modified":"2022-05-03T16:11:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-03T05:11:59","slug":"redan-run-riot-over-sebas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/sport\/redan-run-riot-over-sebas\/","title":{"rendered":"Redan run riot over Sebas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sebastopol 6.13 (49) defeated by Redan 14.10 (94) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SHOCKWAVES have been sent through the McDonalds Ballarat Football League with Redan upstaging Sebastopol to record their first victory of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Veteran presence Lachie George was the star of show booting five goals in a best on ground performance to see his side bounce back after a diabolical loss back on Good Friday against Lake Wendouree.<\/p>\n<p>George and fellow midfielder Craig Cooper-Peters were late withdrawals due to illness in that loss but were the clear standouts two weeks later in this victory, with their clearance work highlighted by an impressive showing in the ruck from Nathan Dunstan.<\/p>\n<p>The Burra were far from their best with forward trio Toby Hutt, Michael Powell and James Keeble failing to fire in front of the big sticks missing golden opportunities to kick away in the opening half.<\/p>\n<p>Add in another injury setback to last year\u2019s Henderson Medallist, Lachlan Cassidy, midway through the first term and a soft tissue injury to midfielder Jack Brambury, and you have a recipe for a disastrous afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>George himself booted three goals in the final three minutes of the opening half, and was well supported by Lachie McLean, Izaaac Grant and youngster Rory Gunsser, who all kicked two majors in the second half to see the Lions run away with the game.<\/p>\n<p>Redan will now take on traditional rivals Ballarat in a blockbuster clash this Saturday which should showcase some of the very best young talent this competition has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>Whereas Sebas have a tricky away game against Lake Wendouree and with a growing injury list another loss could spell the end to their premiership aspirations for season 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8211; BY SAM YOUNG<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sebastopol 6.13 (49) defeated by Redan 14.10 (94) SHOCKWAVES have been sent through the McDonalds Ballarat Football League with Redan upstaging Sebastopol to record their first victory of the season.
