THE Breast Cancer Network Australia are returning to Ballarat with their first in-person forum for the city in over two years.<\/p>\n
The free information session will take place on Thursday, 26 May at Mercure Ballarat and BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti said it\u2019s excited to be once again offering in person sessions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to be coming back to Ballarat to make sure we can provide the latest information and care for all of those who\u2019ve been affected by breast cancer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re particularly wanting to help those men and women with metastatic, permanent or early breast cancer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re bringing Australian and world-renowned clinicians who will keep us informed all day which will mean we can bring the latest in treatment and care to the people of Ballarat and the surrounds.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beginning with a breakfast at 7.15am, the all-day event will continue from 9am, and will cover topics like the emotional impact of breast cancer, latest treatments, side effects, and healthy living before and after diagnosis.<\/p>\n
The forum will host guest speakers like clinical psychologist Dr Charlotte Tottman, breast care nurses Leanne Storer and Joylene Fletcher, and clinician scientist and oncologist Dr Belinda Yeo.<\/p>\n
The forum will be capped at 150 people, and Ms Pilatti said it will provide attendees with more than just treatment info.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we\u2019re most excited about is how interactive this session will be,\u201d she said. \u201cOne of the challenges through COVID is that people have felt so alone through their diagnosis.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis forum will help us make sure they know about the services that are available to them and connect them with others who\u2019ve struggled with breast cancer, all while empowering them with the latest information.\u201d<\/p>\n
