AFTER five years of performing their annual family-friendly gigs in-house, Geelong\u2019s Piano Bar is set to take their all-ages act on the road.<\/p>\n
From the start of next month, the Piano Bar team will bring their Music from the Movies show to three Golden Plains towns.<\/p>\n
Children and parents will be able to sing-along to their favourite movie song, and organiser and co-performer Andy Pobjoy said he\u2019s keen to take the show out to the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve never done anything like this before. We\u2019re hoping there\u2019s an appetite for it because I know there\u2019s not a lot of this sort of thing for young families in Golden Plains,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re opening it up to the kids in the region so it\u2019s a great chance to get out of the house for the second week of school holidays.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll be hitting the road with just me on piano and vocals and singer Shandelle Cooke with thousands of movie songs ready to go by request.\u201d<\/p>\n
The show\u2019s first stop will be Bannockburn Cultural Centre on Monday, 4 July before heading to Inverleigh Public Hall on Tuesday, 5 July and finally Rokewood Memorial Hall on Wednesday, 6 July.<\/p>\n
Pobjoy said he saw a demand from Golden Plains regulars looking for more inclusive show from Piano Bar\u2019s normal offerings.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt made a lot of sense for us to do this. A lot of the parents from the area were hitting us up for events so this has been driven by the audience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, this show is something completely different to what we normally do, and it gives those kids the opportunity to bond and get invested and maybe even inspire them to pursue performing themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd sometimes the parents get more passionate about the songs than the kids!\u201d<\/p>\n
