CHILDREN in Linton now have access to brand new play equipment when they head to their local recreation reserve.<\/p>\n
Worth just over $213,000, the new playground includes monkey bars, areas to climb, a roundabout, slide, a \u2018bird\u2019s nest\u2019 swing set, soft under-foot material, and edging around its perimeter.<\/p>\n
The space has been designed to be attractive to young people of a wide age range, and Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said it\u2019s much more user-friendly than what kids had to play on previously.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe brand-new playground at Linton Recreation Reserve provides a safe facility for children of all ages with its various climbing options, birds nest swing and natural play elements,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe upgrade complements the recent cricket nets upgrade at the Linton Recreation Reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Shire has worked on upgrading six playgrounds across the municipality within the last couple of years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new playground provides children and families in Linton with a greatly improved community facility, and council thanks the Australian Government for its funding commitment that made this new playground, and recent upgrades in Dereel, Haddon, Garibaldi and Enfield, possible,\u201d Cr Gamble said.<\/p>\n
The Shire has contributed just over $153,000 to the project, while $60,000 came from the Federal Government\u2019s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n
Funds from the LRCI Program also supported the Enfield, Garibaldi, Dereel and Haddon works, while the Shire fully funded a recent overhaul of the playground at Rokewood Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
The Linton Recreation Reserve\u2019s old playground has been completely removed to make way for the newer, safer equipment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
