VICTORIAN Senator Sarah Henderson has taken aim at the State Government following the delayed completion of Bannockburn\u2019s town entrance roundabout.<\/p>\n
Connecting Geelong, Clyde, and Kelly roads and High Street, the $3.2 million project was announced by Ms Henderson as an election promise in 2018.<\/p>\n
The roundabout was officially opened by the Senator in January with temporary lighting in place, and seven months on she said, \u201cthe state Labor government has let down the community with extremely poor project delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Victorian Government must urgently connect the power, install permanent lighting and get this project finished,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe failure to complete such an important road safety project is not good enough.<\/p>\n
\u201cPremier Daniel Andrews and his government are failing to put the community first and this is yet another example.\u201d<\/p>\n
In response to Senator Henderson\u2019s claims a State Government spokesperson hit back.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we are continuing to work hard to finalise the delivery of this complicated project, the Opposition Senator may well remember the former Morrison Government\u2019s failure to deliver for Victoria many times over its nine-year term,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe roundabout remains operational and temporary lighting will remain in place until the final lighting work is completed.”<\/p>\n
A representative of the Department of Transport said they are working on final designs with Powercor on overhead modifications to the power network.<\/p>\n
A statement from the State Government said that work includes relocating a street like on Clyde Road and there is currently no timeline on completion of the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
