BANNOCKBURN\u2019S first Scouts group is asking everyone to get involved in their annual raffle drive.<\/p>\n
Facilitated by Scouts Victoria as part of their statewide initiative, the 1st Bannockburn group is aiming to raise funds for new equipment.<\/p>\n
Tickets are $2 each, and scout leader Brad Griffiths said the group has a particular goal in mind.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur tents are probably six years old and they\u2019ve done a lot of camping with us so they\u2019re definitely a priority,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re getting a bit worn out. They\u2019ve done two jamborees so that\u2019s probably where the money will be going to.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is our second year doing this all online as well, which probably makes it easier for people to share with family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
With 22 Scouts, Mr Griffiths said the group will need about seven tents that hold three people each.<\/p>\n
Nearly $1500 has been raised so far, and 1st Bannockburn Scouts are ranked seventh on the raffle leader board.<\/p>\n
Top prizes include a Mitsubishi SUV, a Fitzroy Island holiday and Cradle Mountain walk.<\/p>\n
Huntah Dingley has been with 1st Bannockburn for four years, and said she\u2019s keen to see the tents replaced.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe jamboree my brother went to, it was very dusty. The tents went there a very green colour, and they came back red,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be good to get some new ones but I\u2019m also hoping the new equipment we can get through this will encourage people interested in Scouts to join us.\u201d<\/p>\n
