THE Ballarat-based Petspiration Foundation is aiming to improve the independence of people with blindness or low vision through a month-long fundraising campaign.<\/p>\n
This August, the charity will aim to generate $200,000 which will be donated to Guide Dogs Australia.<\/p>\n
The Petspiration Foundation\u2019s charity and events Lead Sherralea Cassidy said all funds raised will go into guide dog development programs which will ultimately benefit vision impaired people and help them reach their full potential.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re calling upon animal lovers, and anyone that wants to make a difference to the lives of those living with low vision or blindness, to donate and help us reach our target… to help guide dogs transform a life,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough this initiative, we hope to raise awareness of the incredible work carried out by guide dogs and educate Australians on the opportunities that are available to support them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Guide Dogs Australia client Nikki Drake said the organisation has boosted their confidence.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorking with Guide Dogs Australia has given me the… independence that I need to move safely around my community, and with generous donations from partners such as Petspiration Foundation, I\u2019m able to continue being supported by guide dogs,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
Guide Dogs Australia mobility instructor Ryan Jones said training dogs, orientation and mobility work, occupational therapy, and connection, peer support, advocacy and therapy dog services are all provided by the organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re so thankful to have the support of the Petspiration Foundation, and the many people across the nation that choose to donate, so that we can continue to offer our services and positively impact the lives of people with blindness or low vision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
