ROKEWOOD-Corindhap Football Netball Club\u2019s Paul Wells recently played his two hundredth senior game with the club.<\/p>\n
Having run on for the Hoppers since 2003 in under 17s, Wells said it was \u201ca bit of an achievement\u201d to reach that many matches.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve sort of been around the club my whole life so it\u2019s great to see not only myself but a few others up in that milestone recently,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSports has been in my blood the whole time. Rokewood\u2019s a good place to be around, and the culture\u2019s always been great here.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Corindhap-raised farmhand has played with the club since his Auskick days and has lived in the district all his life.<\/p>\n
Over his two-decade involvement with the club Wells said highlights include winning the 2009 seconds\u2019 premiership and being named best and fairest in 2015.<\/p>\n
The lanky forward points to a familial connection in joining the club, with his father serving as trainer for nearly four decades.<\/p>\n
Wells\u2019 grandfather Lloyd Laidler played 400 games for the Hoppers and the club\u2019s seniors best and fairest award is named after him.<\/p>\n
Although not hopeful he\u2019ll reach his grandfather\u2019s record, Wells said he aims to receive a lifetime member\u2019s award at 250 games, and looks forward to carrying on the family tradition with his children.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy kids love watching me play, and this is just something I\u2019ve done all my life so I guess you kind of take it for granted,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy youngest Stevie\u2019s just started Auskick, and he\u2019s always around kicking the footy. The same thing\u2019s probably going to happen and I\u2019ll probably pass the baton on to him when I\u2019m done.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
