AFL legend Gary Ablett Jr will play a game for Northern Territory Football League side Palmerston Football Club in November.<\/p>\n
The NT News<\/em> has reported the dual Brownlow Medallist and eight-time All-Australian will play against St Mary\u2019s at Cazalys Arena on 18 November.<\/p>\n
The former Geelong and Gold Coast superstar will also be part of an official Palmerston club function.<\/p>\n
Palmerston said in a club statement on its Facebook page, \u201cTo have Gary and family here as part of the football community is a massive coup for the club, and so exciting for our NTFL competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ablett called time on his decorated AFL career after Geelong\u2019s grand final loss to Richmond in 2020.<\/p>\n
The champion midfielder played 357 games for the Cats and Suns, winning two premierships with the former and a total of six best and fairest awards.<\/p>\n
Magpies product and Ablett\u2019s former Geelong teammate, Matthew Stokes, is said to have organised the game.<\/p>\n
Former Carlton and Adelaide small forward Eddie Betts played for Palmerston in July.<\/p>\n
