TWO of the Geelong & District Football League\u2019s best outfits will make the trip to St Albans Reserve in Geelong this Saturday, 10 September for the chance to be crowned the comp\u2019s senior premiers.<\/p>\n
Inverleigh and Bannockburn will square off in the grand final, the first time the GDFL final will be played between both Golden Plains Shire-based sides.<\/p>\n
Hawks captain Jack Fiolet said it was an exciting feeling knowing the game would be an all-Golden Plains affair, a matchup that has historically been played on Anzac Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve played with and grown up with a lot of people at both clubs, we\u2019re all really good mates and it\u2019s unreal for the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do lose a lot of juniors over the years to go play better footy, and this shows if you stick around with your local clubs, you\u2019ll get the chance to showcase your talent on a stage like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bannockburn captain Daniel Measures will return to action in time for the decider after suffering an ankle injury in week one of the finals.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe get a big crowd usually between the two teams and there\u2019s a big rivalry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year momentum is a big thing. You can have a big turnaround and I think we have potential in the team to do win it this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cInverleigh is a really good team, obviously they\u2019re going to try to win it having not done it before. Both teams will come at it hard, it will be a good contest to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n
