AN online mental health first aid course is returning to the Shire.<\/p>\n
Training provider Digger Deeper will deliver the program established as part of the State Government\u2019s Community Activation and Social Isolation initiative as a result of the pandemic.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said it\u2019s great to see continued support for mental health first aid accreditation in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuccessful sessions have been held in 2020 and 2021, and it is fantastic that we can now provide more residents with this valuable training,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is vital that residents have access to mental health support, and this free training program means there will be more support available within Golden Plains from friends, family and community members.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnowing how to support someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis is an invaluable tool and I encourage all residents wanting to gain accreditation in this area to take advantage of this free program.\u201d<\/p>\n
Expressions of interest are open until Monday, 10 October, and first preference will be given to people with community roles such as volunteers, teachers and coordinators.<\/p>\n
The program will consist of up to five hours of web-based self-guided learning followed by an instructor-led online group session on Wednesday, 26 October.<\/p>\n
An optional online session will also be held on Wednesday, 12 October to assist participants with the self-leaning component.<\/p>\n
Community groups can register a maximum of up to two people and expressions of interest can be submitted at the municipality\u2019s website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
