PLANNING is underway for a Smythesdale Sub-Regional Play Space at Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve which would service the wider district.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire officers are now accepting community feedback on the project, which is set to include a central playground area and public amenities.<\/p>\n
Concept plan designers will aim to cater to people of a broad age range throughout the Shire\u2019s north, to be inclusive and encourage socialisation.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble encourages northern locals to share their ideas and priorities for the space.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe proposed Smythesdale Sub-Regional Play Space will establish a fantastic destination play space to keep residents in our northern townships connected and active,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo ensure the proposed play space meets the expectations of the community, council has opened a community survey and we look forward to hearing from locals in Smythesdale, and our other northern towns, with their thoughts and ideas for the play elements and infrastructure at the play space.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shire officers are also seeking funding support from two tiers of government to design and complete the project, which is expected to cost $2.25 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to advocate to our local members at a State and Federal level, and will highlight this priority project to candidates during the upcoming State Election,\u201d Cr Gamble said.<\/p>\n
Many of the Shire\u2019s public playgrounds have been given a freshen-up in the last two years, with upgrades seen at Rokewood, Dereel, Haddon, Garibaldi, Enfield and Linton.<\/p>\n
