BANNOCKBURN Skate Park is set to receive more upgrades thanks to further support from the State Government.<\/p>\n
The works are slated to cost $805,000 as part of the $50 million Growing Suburbs Fund and will be undertaken by Golden Plains Shire.<\/p>\n
New additions are to include a skate bowl and community space amenities like a barbecue, overhead lighting, shelter and pathways.<\/p>\n
Member for Geelong, Christine Couzens, said the support will make the skate park a high-quality facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis investment will provide the Bannockburn community with the facilities they deserve. This will be a first-rate skating facility and recreation area that all the community can use and enjoy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Located by the Victoria Park Recreation Reserve, the Bannockburn Skate Park was previously overhauled this year after nearly $450,000 in State and Federal funding.<\/p>\n
The reworked skate park opened in March and includes new obstacles, lighting, shelter, seating and bike racks.<\/p>\n
Additional upgrades to the Bannockburn Skate Park are part of the latest round of the Growing Suburbs Fund, which aims to support peri-urban municipalities in delivering community projects.<\/p>\n
Nearly 350 community infrastructure projects have been supported with $425 million allocated through the fund since it was established in 2015.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s estimated 47 successful projects from 15 municipalities are to receive support from the fund\u2019s latest round.<\/p>\n
Minister for Local Government, Melissa Horne, said the funding has supported Victoria\u2019s expanding municipalities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re supporting our fastest growing suburbs to thrive by investing in the community infrastructure that is needed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
